Easily the worst product I've ever paid money for.Under no circumstances should you buy this device. I thought about returning it but instead decided to smash it with a hammer to help ease my anger.
At all. What's worse is that it will cause system panic crashes.
It's a shame that things can't have negative stars because if they could this would be a negative 5 star review. As many here have said this reader will cause a system panic on Macbook Pros - who knows, maybe it works on other machines but it was sold as being compatible with Macbook Pros and it's listed on their site as being compatible and it's not. This small and simple device actually destroyed a computer to the point of irreparable damage to the hard drive.
These are really bad crashes that can damage your hard drive. After a week of use the constant crashes caused serious problems on the drive and required the entire hard drive to be erased and restored.
This was by far the best choice and I only wish it was better made so that I could have hammered on it for longer. If you need speed get the LEXAR Firewire 800 CF reader which is bullet proof reliable.
I read the other reviews and the words of caution on Delkin's own website. I had no problems. Once I downloaded and installed the drive, I imported photos directly from a flashcard to iphoto. I am operating a MacBook Pro with OS 10.6.2.
updated photoshop and the driver for the express car. it still crashes my brand new macbook pro (which is up to date with snow leopard) so unless you enjoy recovering from crashes, find another way to interface with the flash cards
I can't find any support online and may have received a bad reader. I've had this CF reader for a few months and it's become a pain. I can put in the card but whenever I plug in a CF card I get a system crash. It will work if I start my MacBook Pro with everything plugged in but that's very impractical. I would not recommend this product
When I could get it to work correctly it did let me import photographs from CF cards extremely quickly, but that's the only good news.I also discovered that when I would insert the card with a CF card inserted into it, my MacBook Pro would force me to power cycle. I really feel the need to warn any OS X user about this product. I'm running 10.5.6 and purchased this card for the speed and Mac compatibility. This occurred every single time I tried. I did discover that if I inserted the card while leaving the ExpressCard inside the MacBook it would work better but doing so is rather difficult.I am now using a Lexar Firewire 800 CF reader and no longer have to worry about rebooting my Mac.Pro Series Compactflash Readers Firewire 800
